Democracy relies on Integrity, Neighborly Concern and Basic Etiquette
Though we would like to think that a Democracy could run by making laws alone, the truth is clear: sociopathy of the few will inevitably ruin any form of government, any society. The individual willingness to uphold the spirit of the law is critical. Acting in a caring and honest manner for those around you and following an agreed-upon set of social rules is key to establishing the trust necessary to form functioning alliances and agreements. A hearty system must also include a plan for the identification and neutralization of sociopathic, cheating, mafia-like tactics. No one is happy under this kind of rule: not even those at the top. Everyone hates these abusers, and even if those oppressed kowtow and flatter in person, there is no trust and no one lives truly well. Corruption and greed is poison for all.
We must take courage and stand together to stand against—through boycott, protest or strike—when we see the violation of these fundamentals by people or corporations. No government can provide us with these 3 pillars, and no government built on citizens without them can build a sustainable, safe society.
